What format does the nutrition advice take?

I have developed a 10-week healthy eating programme called the Plant-Powered Diet Transformation.  This includes an assessment of your 1-week food diary at the beginning and towards the end of the programme.  In between I take clients through a series of 60min workshops to help them shift their diet from an unhealthy traditional diet to a healthy plant-based one.  We generally go through the workshop content for 45mins and then have 15mins of discussion.  Each week I will make recommendations for dietary changes and give you 2-3 recipes to try out. 

Will I receive a full dietary analysis to make sure that I am getting the right amount of nutrients, vitamins, and minerals?

Not as part of the basic package, but I can arrange for an accredited nutritionist to analyse your 1-week food diary and provide plant-based recommendations for ironing-out any deficiencies for an additional charge of £50. 

Do I have to completely switch to a plant-based diet?

The best evidence shows that moving from a traditional diet containing animal products to a plant-based diet will improve your health in terms of reducing the risk of developing chronic diseases.  However, I appreciate that this is a huge shift, which is why I will lead you in a gradual transition from one diet to the other.  I will encourage you to move to as close to 100% plant-based as you are comfortable with.  I didn’t switch from a traditional diet to a plant-based diet overnight and I wouldn’t expect my clients to do the same.

Will I still be able to eat plant-based versions of traditional foods?

The explosion in plant-based hot dogs, pies, cheeses, and ice creams have made it easier for people to switch to a vegan diet, but these are still junk foods and should only be eaten as occasional treats.  Through the Plant-Based Diet Transformation I show clients how to eat a healthy diet centred on whole foods; whole grains, beans, lentils, legumes, nuts, seeds, and fresh fruits and vegetables.  

What sort of foods will you recommend on the weekly recipe cards?

Here are some examples of the foods that I eat all of the time, that I will give you the recipes for:

  • Red bean and lentil chilli
  • Lentil spaghetti Bolognese 
  • White beans and super green veg stew
  • Mushroom and pea risotto
  • Red bean and sweet potato stew
  • Crunchy mixed bean salad
  • Tofu scramble

I will also give you recommendations for healthy plant-based foods that can be purchased at good value from the shops.

What health improvements can I expect if I undertake the Plant-Based Diet Transformation?

Transitioning to a whole foods plant-based diet, such as the one that I promote has been associated with the following health benefits:

Will you take into account my food allergies and intolerances?

Yes, please let me know what these are when you complete the lifestyle consultation form.

Will you make any recommendations for changing my medications as my health improves?

No.  Only your doctor can make these decisions.  You should inform your doctor that you are working with me and that you have chosen to transition to a predominantly plant-based diet.  They will then be able to take this into account when giving you recommendations for medications and treatments.  You should keep me informed as to what your doctor advises and how your medications may change. 

What is the cost of the Plant-Based Diet Transformation package?

The cost of the 10 60min workshops, 2 food diary assessments, and 25 recipe cards is £400.  This cost includes my travel to your home if it is within a 15min drive of my home in Shalford, Guildford. If you are happy to travel to my home in Shalford then the price drops to £350.
